your body in autumn

I swung around a side street
so that I could see your old apartment.
someone new lives there now and
they will never know about the night
we broke into one another in the kitchen.
they will never know about the late nights with gin, the
early mornings when you would
brave the winter cold to
warm up my car and
scrape the windsheilds.
they will never know where your truck
had parked, where
we first kissed or
how the orange hue from your curtains
lit up your entire body in autumn.
